The traditional encounter between Zahira College and Dharmaraja College took place today at Zahira College Grounds.
The home side won the toss and elected to bat first. In form batsman and skipper Sajith Sameera and Mohammad Shamaz scored half centuries for Zahira and they posted 204 runs in 55.3 overs. Rukmal Dissanayake took 4 for 69 with the ball for the Rajans.
In reply at stumps on day 1, Dharmaraja was 106 for the loss of 4 wickets with Nivantha Herath unbeaten on 36.

Lumbini College VS St Benedict’s College
Right-arm medium fast-bowler Reshan Kavishka’s 7-wicket haul gave St Benedict’s the upper hand and a great opportunity to register an outright victory against Lumbini College in their Group B encounter.
Bens won the toss and opted to bowl first. Reshan’s spell shattered through the Lumbini batting line up as they got bundled out for just 94 runs.
In reply, St Benedict’s were cruising at 161 for 4 with half centuries from Dulantha Lewis and skipper Dinitha Basnayake.

In form Peterite outfit crumbled against De Mazenod College in their traditional encounter today at St Peter’s College Grounds. The home side won the toss and elected to bat first. A poor shot selection by the home side led to a collapse in the top order as they got cleaned up for a solitary 143.
The sole hero with the bat for the Peterites was opening batsman Santhush Gunathilake who scored an unbeaten 65. Apart from Santhush, there wasn’t any contribution from the rest. Ashen Fernando bagged 3 for 28 for the visitors.
At Stumps, De Mazenod was 94 for 5 with Shangith Deshan scoring 41 runs.

Royal College VS St Sebastian’s College
Royal College took the upper hand on the first day of their traditional encounter against St Sebastian’s College at Royal College Grounds. The visitors won the toss and opted to bowl first. Royalists managed to post 227 in 62.1 overs. Left-handed Lakindu Nanayakkara scored 50 while left-arm spinner, Praveen Jayawickrama and Vice-Captain Nimesh Bandara took four wickets each for the visitors.
The Sebastianites were 106 for 8 at stumps with Sri Lanka Cap Avishka Fernando returning to play Schools Cricket and stroking 25 runs. Captain Helitha Vithanage and Deputy, Himesh Ramanayake grabbed 3 wickets apiece for the hosts.

Thurstan College VS Bandaranayake College
Thurstan College registered a thumping 10 wicket victory against Bandaranayake College today at Thurstan College Grounds.
Thurstan declared their innings overnight with a lead of 109 runs. The visitors had to bat out the day if they were to save the match but they were cleaned up for just 137 runs in 47.3 overs.
Sandaru Dias bagged four more wickets in the second innings to go with his five-for in the first innings. With just 29 runs to get, Thurstan got over the line in 5.3 overs with all their wickets intact.
Early on, Thurstan College cleaned up Bandaranayake College for just 82 runs and in reply they posted 191 for 8 in 48.5 overs.

Wesley College VS Trinity College
Trinity registered a first innings victory in their encounter against Wesley College today at Asgiriya stadium. Lions resumed play on the second day with their reply to the first innings score of 208 which was posted by Wesley on day one. It was an intense battle with both bat and ball but it was the Lions who prevailed at the end. Trinity managed to go past Wesley by just 2 runs as they were bowled out for 210 in 59.4 overs. Hasintha Jayasuriya top scored with 59 while Poorna Nethmal scored 51.
At stumps, Wesley College were 122 for 6 with Thisuraka Akmeemana scoring 76 runs.
