Renowned rugby administrator Mudannayake no more

In an unfortunate turn of events, schools rugby’s renowned administrator, Nihal Mudannayake, passed away this afternoon following a cardiac arrest.

He was initially admitted to the Seeduwa hospital, with a heart ailment and was brought to the Ragama hospital for further treatment. Following the cardiac arrest, the doctors later declared him deceased.

One of the important figures in the schools’ rugby arena, Mudannayake is fondly known among all  school boys, who graduate through to greater heights. A former member of the teaching staff at Wesley College, he started his contribution to the sport by acting as the master-in-charge of rugby.

Following his retirement, he took up full-time duties at the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) as a full-time administrative employee contributing to the success of the tournaments conducted yearly by the body.

As the rugby community mourns the death of one of its beloved servants, our thoughts go out to the members of his family at this time of grief.
