Saunders and Renown teams were both available well on time for the game, however the referees appointed by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) failed to turn up.
Speaking with the authorities it was revealed that the referees have handed a letter to the FFSL that they will not be officiating any games involving Saunders SC in the Dialog Champions League.
Due to the unresolved incidents between Saunders SC players and referees in the games against Ratnam SC and Defenders FC, referees did not attend to blow this match.
FFSL will discuss with the referees and the club to resolve the dispute and ensure continuation of Saunders SC matches.
