Police Sports Club’s key forward and former skipper Rasith Jayanga Silva has been slapped with a one-match ban ahead of the 13th week of the Dialog Rugby League 2018/19.
The front row player was found guilty of talking back to the referee and after a warning, referee Hasantha Weranga handed him a yellow card for the offence. The incident occurred during the Havelock SC v Police SC game last weekend.
As the player was making it out, he continued to abuse the referee, arguing against the decision and thereby left the referee with no option but to show the second yellow card which accounts to a red card.
This week’s clashes!
The citing match commissioner cited the incident and Jayanga Silva will have to sit out the next match that will be against Army Sports Club at Ratmalana.
Rasith Silva has been an influential player in the Police forward pack along with the skipper Udara Sooriyapperuma. His absence will be clearly felt in the Police SC outfit as they try their best to climb up the ranks in the league table.
Currently, Police Sports Club sits at 7th place in front of Air Force SC.
