Hard-hitting right arm off-spinning all-rounder Ramith Rambukwella has been called into the Sri Lanka T20I squad for the one-off game against England which starts tomorrow (5th) at Ageas Bowl.
Rambukwella, who was in England with the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team for the unofficial Test series against Pakistan ‘A’, had represented Sri Lanka in a solitary T20I against New Zealand in 2013 at Pallekelle, where he took only one wicket for 19 runs from his four overs.
The 24-year old former Royalist will replace batsman Upul Tharanga who was a part of the ODI squad and will most probably slot right into the playing XI. Sri Lanka has still not won a game on English soil this summer.
The left-handed Rambukwella has a healthy T20 strike-rate of 154.09 playing 40 games and has taken 36 scalps at an economy rate of 6.71. Sri Lanka lost the Test and ODI series, 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. The T20I match will commence on Tuesday night at 11.00pm (SL Time).
