The newly appointed cabinet Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Hon. Namal Rajapakse was sworn into office this morning (18) at the Ministry of Sports, Colombo 7.
The occasion was graced by several dignitaries including Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, cabinet ministers Johnston Fernando and Dullas Alahapperuma, as well as members of sports bodies and media.
Hon. Rajapakse will go down in history as the youngest Sports Minister and the first former National Sports Captain (Rugby) to hold such a position in Parliament. After contesting from Hambantota and claiming the top spot in preferential votes (166,660) at the general elections.
