Rain spoiled the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand tour once again when the heavy downpour of rain at Pallekelle forced the umpires to abandon the 1st T20 match at around 08.45pm local time, 1 hour 30 minutes before the cut off time.
The match was scheduled to start at 07.00pm local time.
Rain played a main role in all 3 ODI matches played at Hambanthota and Dambulla. Monsoon rains in Sri Lanka will continue for the next couple of weeks as well and the 2nd T20 match which is scheduled to be played on the 21st of November,2013 at Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium will be threatened by the rain as the weather forecasts predicts.
The ground was fully covered and the covers never to come off due to the non stop rain and the 2nd T20 will be the decider for this 2 match T20 series.
