Pushpakumara spins web around England Lions

England Lions were 339/9 after winning the toss and batting first in the second and final unofficial test which began in Dambulla today(24).

Left arm spinner Malinda Pushpakumara was the star once again for the hosts as he bowled a marathon spell of 37 overs going on to pick up 7/114.  He also picked up a match bag of eight wickets in the opening game with four wickets in each innings.

Liam Livingstone continued his good form for the visitors with another solid century while he got good support from Tom Westley who made a patient 68. These two were involved in a very crucial 110 run stand for the fourth wicket which eventually helped the Englishmen go past the 300 run mark.

England Lions looked well on course for a bigger total at 270/4 but a tricky period of play where Pushpakumara spun a web around the middle and lower order batsmen saw them being reduced to 313/9 before Ollie Rayner and Matthew Leach hung in there till close putting up an unbroken stand of 26 for the tenth wicket.

Skipper Dhananjaya De Silva and Asitha Fernando were the other wicket takers for Sri Lanka as they picked up one wicket apiece.

England Lions 339/9(91 overs) Liam Livingstone 105, Tom Westley 68, Keaton Jennings 44, Malinda Pushpakumara 7/114
