Chilaw Marians vs NCC

Chilaw Marians skipper and Test discard Malinda Pushpakumara gave another wake up call to the selectors, as he picked up a match bag of 8/65 to destroy a strong NCC outfit in Katunayake today.

NCC who were set 211 for victory, struggled against spin on a tough wicket, as they were bowled out for just 116 runs to end the match inside two days and hand Chilaw Mariana the first win of the tournament.

Lasith Embuldeniya captured a match bag of 10 wickets for NCC but his batsmen couldn’t back up his good work as they fell short by 94 runs.

Saracens vs Moors

Saracens who resumed day two on 369/6, put up a daunting 432 all out on the back of day one centuries  from Andy Solomons and Gamindu Kanishka. The ever consistent Tharindu Rathnayake impressed once again with a five wicket haul for Moors SC.

Moors made a stubborn reply with their openers leading the way with a massive 266 runs for the opening wicket. The left-hand right-hand combination of Primosh Perera and Irosh Samarasuriya made life hard for the Saracens bowlers, as both batsmen made centuries to help Moors reach 288/3 at close.

Tamil Union vs Badureliya SC

Tamil Union took control of their match against Badureliya as they ended day two with an overall lead of 181 runs.

Tamil Union were dismissed for 332 early on day two before they bundled out Badureliya for a paltry 196 runs. Youngster Pathum Nissanka played the innings of his life with a brilliant century but couldn’t prevent Tamil Union gaining the upper hand.

Ramith Rambukwella who impressed with a couple of centuries in the recently concluded Mercantile A division T20 tournament, showed his all-round skills with a 6 wicket haul using his right arm off breaks to good affect.

BRC vs SLPACC

Sri Lanka Ports Authority CC took control of their match against hosts BRC, thanks to a fighting century by Yohan De Silva on a rank turner.

BRC managed to reduce the 1st innings deficit to just 5 runs, but fell into a deep hole once again as they ended the day on 116/8 with an overall lead of just 111 runs. Maduka Liyanapathiranage picked up 3/16 following his three wicket haul in the first innings for SLPACC.

Colts vs Bloomfield 

Former Gurukula College Right handed batsman Hashan Dumindu’s career best 168* was the highlight of the match between Colts and Bloomfield played at the Colts grounds in Colombo today.

Dumindu struck just 13 fours and a six in a marathon 306 ball knock as he helped Colts lost a formidable 400 all out in their first innings.

Bloomfield replied with 105/4 in their turn to bat, as the match headed towards a tame draw with just one day to go.

Ragama CC vs SSC

After no play whatsoever on the opening day, SSC were in a formidable position against Ragama CC when the umpires drew stumps on day two.

Ragama CC were bowled out for 187 with Sri Lanka caps Jeffrey Vandersay(5/63) and Sachithra Senanayake(3/25) sharing 8 wickets between them.

SSC replied with 76/2 with Kaushal Silva who is making a case for a comeback into the Test team, unbeaten on 35*.
