The final of Professionals’ Cricket League 2024 will be played between Marketers Team and Engineers Team tomorrow (6th October) at Thurstan College Grounds, Colombo.
Eight teams namely – Engineers, Lawyers, Aviators, Marketers, Doctors, Surveyors, Architects and Town Planners competed in the first round where they got to play 7 games each.

Engineers, Lawyers, Aviators and Marketers qualified for the playoffs after grabbing the first 4 places in the points table at the end of preliminary stage.

In the first Qualifier, Engineers defeated Lawyers by 14 runs to seal their place in the final. In the Eliminator clash, Marketers beat Aviators by 6 wickets to set Qualifier 2 contest against Lawyers. In the second Qualifier, Marketers registered an 8-wicket win over Lawyers to book their place in the final.
Roshan Derling will lead Marketers Team while Geeth Sankalpa will lead Engineers in the final. Sankalpa will be a big asset for Engineers in the final as he is the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 286 runs in 7 innings.
Gayan Rupasinghe who represent Marketers in the final is the second highest run-getter of the tournament as he amassed 232 runs in 7 innings.
The left-arm spinner Moditha Weerasinghe will strengthen Marketers’ bowling attack as he is the second highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 15 wickets in 8 innings.

Engineers’ skipper Sankalpa who stole the limelight with his batting talents, showcased his bowling skills as well throughout the tournament becoming the third highest wicket-taker with 12 scalps in 8 innings.
