The first quarter finals of the Singer Schools U13 Division I Cricket Tournament played was today at Royal College Grounds Colombo. Mahinda College Galle walked into the Quarters beating St.Sebastians College Moratuwa and will meet another school from Moratuwa, Prince of Wales who came through thrashing Wesley College, Colombo.

The visiting team from Galle, Mahinda College won the toss and opted to bat first and went through till the tea break when they declared their innings scoring 176 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 83.1 over. Banuja Dulanath scored an unbeaten 47 runs while Senuka Dangamuwa and Binura Kulupahana scored 31 runs and 25 runs respectively. Achala Perera grabbed 4 wickets for 49 runs while Rusiru Fernando chipped in with 2 wickets for 26 runs.

Chasing the target the juniors from Moratuwa took an opening stand and went throughout batting unbeaten till the end of the day. Prince of Wales scored 74 runs loss of no wickets completing 31 overs when the umpires called it a day. Rivith Jayasuriya scored 29 runs not out while Thenul De Soysa scored 25 runs not out.
The match ended up a draw and Prince of Wales won the bonus point and Qualified to the Semi Finals.
