Primosh Perera’s stellar form continues

The second week of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Premier League Tier ‘A’ Tournament got underway today with six matches that began around the Island.

Moors vs CCC

Primosh Perera’s unbeaten century was the highlight as Moors SC took control of their match against CCC at the CCC grounds in Colombo.

Perera hit a brilliant century against Saracens SC last week and looked in great touch as he stroked 9 fours and a six during his effort. Irosh Samarasuriya also chipped in with 41 for the visitors as they reached 213/2 at stumps.

Tamil Union vs NCC

Tamil Union were shot out for 117 after NCC won the toss on their home turf and decided to send their opponents in.

It was a collective bowling effort for NCC as Tharindu Kaushal, Chamika Karunaratne, Lahiru Kumara and Lasith Ambuldeniya picked up two wickets apiece.

NCC stamped their authority on the match as they reached 125/2 at stumps, securing a first innings lead.

SSC vs Saracens SC

SSC dominated the opening day’s play against Saracens SC, as they amassed 380/4 when stumps were drawn.

The young and promising Shammu Ashan stroked a classy century while the more experienced Milinda Siriwardana made an unbeaten century for SSC. Sri Lanka’s Test opener Dimuth Karunaratne also chipped in with 83.

Ragama CC vs Colts CC

Only 26 overs were possible in the match between Ragama CC and Colts CC as a wet outfield at the Colts grounds delayed the start of play by more than three hours.

Ragama CC reached 90/2 at stumps with right handed batsman Saminda Fernando stroking a solid half century.

Chilaw Marians vs BRC

Chilaw Marians batted out the day as they made a commendable 293 all out on the opening day of their match against BRC. Sachithra Serasinghe top scored with 63 for Chilaw Marians while discarded Sri Lanka off spinner Suraj Randiv captured a 6-wicket haul.

Army vs SLPACC

Army SC batted out the day as they took a sedate approach to reach 197/7 in 84 overs when the umpires decided to call off play due to bad light.

Leo Francisco was unbeaten on 40* for Army SC as they missed some of their key players who are representing Sri Lanka at the Last Man Stands tournament in South Africa. Chanaka Komasaru bowled best for SLPA, picking up 2/15.
