This tournament, the first of its kind to be hosted in Sri Lanka, will be powered by Ultra High Speed, Dialog 4G Home Broadband who will act as the principal sponsor.
The tournament will spike off on the 15th September, while the grand final will be worked off on 22nd September at the same venue under the auspices of His Excellency, President Maithripala Sirisena and Hon. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe.

The tournament was introduced by the Asian Volleyball Confederation for the 9th-16th ranked teams in Asia. The champions and runner-up of the tournament will get to compete in next year’s AVC Cup while the bottom two of the AVC Cup will drop to the Challenge Cup.
Eight countries will be participating in the tournament who are drawn into two pools of four. Sri Lanka Malaysia, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia are in pool A while United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh, Mongolia and Iraq are in pool B.
Speaking at the press conference Hon. Minister of Sports Faiszer Musthapha stated;
“I think Sri Lanka will benefit from the tournament as we are now 14th and by the end of the tournament we will be able to come up the ranks. The help of the private sector is very important for a sport to develop and we hope the private sector will help us further in the upliftment of the sport.”
Minister of Power and Renewable Energy and also the President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF) Ranjith Siyambalapitiya;
“This is the most loved sport in Sri Lanka. The volleyball players who we are very proud of, has made volleyball their life and hope they will take us a long way in this tournament as well as the future tournaments. We ask the Media and the Sponsors to help us develop the sport further.”
