Premier Limited Over Tournament – Round Up

A magnificent ton from teenage Rumesh Buddhika saw Tamil Union ending a disappoint start to the Premier limited over tournament, as they ended run of two defeat with a massive 130 run win over hapless Kurunegala YCC at NCC grounds yesterday.

Tamil Union who lost their first matches to Saracens and Panadura SC, scored a massive 340 runs for their first innings for the loss of 9 wickers where Mahela Udawatte (68) and Sachithra Serasinghe (51) hit half centuries to propel the total.

Narada Ratnayake claimed 6 for 66 but could not prevent Tamil Union from amassing a massive total. Kurunegala YCC were then bowled out for 210 runs.

Saracens vs. Colts 

Saracens who ousted high ridding Tamil Union in the tournament opener suffered a record low against Colts SC, as hosts recorded a comprehensive ten wicket win in their Premier limited over fixture at Colts grounds yesterday.

Colts needed just 10.5 overs to rattle Saracen’s innings who were bowled out for 19 runs, the lowest in the domestic limited over tournament. Pacemen Kanishka Alvitigala and Chathuranga Kumara ran through the innings sharing nine wickets between them before Colts reached the target just 14 ball.

Saracens: 19 in 10.5 overs (Kanishka Alvitigala 4 for 11 and Chathuranga Kumara 5 for 7).

Colts: 20 for no loss in 2.2 overs

Bloomfiled vs. Galle CC

Bloomfiled held their nerve to win a low scoring thriller against Galle CC in their Premier limited over match played at Reid Avenue

Chasing 173 to win Galle CC managed 165 in 47.2 overs . Anil Rideegammanagedera hit 59.

Colombo CC vs. Panadura 

Ishan Mutaliph and Lasith Fernando continued their fine form yet again as they hit half centuries to set up a comfortable eight wicket win over CCC in their Premier limited over cricket match played at P Sara Oval yesterday.

Fernando who made an unbeaten 101 against Tamil Union on Tuesday cracjed 60 runs while Mutaliph hit 71.

Colombo CC: 158 in 43.4 overs (Gihan Rupasinghe 46, Mithun Jayawickreme 24, Sujeewa De Silva 2 for 31, Dilruwan Perera 2 for 38, Gayan Sirisoma 3 for 23)

Navy vs. Lankan CC

An unbroken sixth wicket partnership between Dilan Cooray (56) and Deshan Dias (39) guided Lankan CC to an easy 5 wicket victory over Navy in their Premier limited over match played at Welisara. Yohan Arumathantri also made 59.

Navy batting first scored 212 for 9 with Yohan Kumara (71) and Duleeka Tissakutige (91 n.o.) compiling half centuries.

Half centuries from Indika De Saram (65) and Chathuranga De Silva (50) saw Moors pulling off a three wicket win over Ports Authority in their Premier  limited over  match played at Braybrooke Place

Badureliya vs. NCC 

A maiden ton from Niroshan Dickwella and a late charge from Angelo Perera saw NCC registering a massive  127 run victory over Badureliya in their Premier limited over match played at the NCC grounds. Former Trinity College skipper was in sublime form as he struck nine boundaries in his 108 ball 105 while Perera was ruthless hitting seven fours and four sixes in his 25 ball 61 not out.

Ragama pulled off a thrilling four run victory over fancied SSC in their Premier limited over match played at the SSC grounds yesterday. Chasing 222 to win SSC were 217 for 9 in 50 overs with Thilan Kandamby making a defiant 60.

A brilliant last wicket stand of 49 between  = Malinga Surappulige (32 n.o.) and Navin Kavikara with an unbeaten 11 runs guided Chilaw Marians to a one wicket win over Army in their Premier limited overs match played at Panagoda.
