Premier League Round up day 3 | Colts in mammoth 602

Colts CC registered a comfortable innings and 39 runs victory over BRC in their Premier League encounter played at Colts ground yesterday.

Colts scored a mammoth 602 for seven declared with Kushal Perera scoring 203 runs with ten sixes and 14 fours while Roshen Silva scored 154 runs with one six and six fours.

BRC scored 278 runs in their second innings that fell short by 39 runs to make Colts bat again.

Galle CC hold Marians to draw

Galle CC defied Chilaw Marians to escape with a draw in their Premier League cricket encounter concluded in Galle yesterday.

The Galle last pair of skipper Anil Rideegammanagedera and Chaturanga played defiantly and added an unbeaten 30 runs to force this draw. Rideegammanagedera scored a fighting 83 not out to escape defeat.

Ajantha Mendis in maiden ton

Ajantha Mendis scored his maiden ton, 101 in Army’s second innings as they held Bloomfield to a draw in their Premier League cricket fixture played at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Forced to follow on Army scored 279 for six wickets with Mendis reaching 101 runs off just 70 deliveries inclusive of nine sixes and seven fours.

Moors in 9 wicket win

Moors SC recorded an easy nine wicket win despite a fight back by Air Force in the Premier League cricket encounter concluded at Braybrook Place yesterday.

Air Force did well to score 417 runs in their second innings after forced to follow on as Ajith Kumara top scored with 121 runs. He faced 143 balls and had four sixes and 12 fours.

Moors lost one wicket but reached the target of 35 in quick time.

Tharindu Kaushal in second 10 wicket haul

Teenage off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal continued impressive form, taking his second ten wicket haul in as little as five matches with a match bag of 10 for 165 to lead NCC to a crushing seven wicket win over CCC in their Premier League cricket match concluded at CCC grounds yesterday.

Kaushal, who also has four five or more wicket hauls in his short career, took five for 72 in the first innings before smashing an unbeaten 51, his first half century to help NCC to a healthy 90 runs first innings lead.

He then had five for 93 in the second innings as he combined with pacer Chaminda Vidanapathirana (4 for 61) to bowl out CCC for 219 in the second innings.

NCC achieved the target of 130 for the loss of three wickets.

Saracens hold Lankan CC to draw

Saracens’ middle order batted defiantly to force a draw in their Premier League match against Lankan CC at the BOI ground Katunayake yesterday.

Rukshan Weerasinghe and Yohan Fernando put on 93 runs in an unbroken stand for the seventh wicket to save them from the jaws of defeat

Sachithra Senanayake 10 for 103

Off-spinner Sachithra Senanayake was at his brutal best as he collected a match bag of 10 for 103, five wickets in both innings (5 for 62 and 5 for 41) and right arm seamer Upul Bandara took his maiden five wicket haul (5 for 57) as SSC crushed Ports Authority by an innings and 137 runs in their Premier League cricket encounter that ended at the NCC grounds yesterday.

T M Dilshan 155 in 88 balls

TM Dilshan (155) and T.N. Sampath (90) struck form as Tamil Union defeated Navy SC by 98 runs in their Premier League cricket encounter concluded at Welisara yesterday.

Dilshan scored 155 off 88 deliveries and included six sixes and 17 fours while T.N. Dilshan scored 90 off 65 deliveries with two sixes and eleven fours.

Tamil Union offered a target of 407 runs to win and were  folded out for 309 runs.
