The preliminary squad for the tournament was picked by SLR and consists of nearly 65 players from all eight first division clubs.
Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR), under the watchful eye of Sudath Sampath and his National Selection Committee, has picked the preliminary 65-man squad from all 8 top division clubs, hoping to trim it down in the coming days before the main event, which is scheduled to be held on the 30th of April.
Fitness testing will happen and a couple of trial games will be played prior to the selection of the final squad, as Sri Lanka hopes to pick the best and fittest to represent Sri Lanka at the Asia Rugby Division 1 Tournament.
Prior to the selection of the squad, SLR appointed a three man coaching contingent, the strongest a Sri Lanka team has seen in years. Heading the team will be Sanath Martis from CH & FC alongside Dushantha Lewke as the Forwards Coach and Nilfer Ibrahim as Three-Quarters Coach.
A majority of the contingent comes in after securing silverware with their respective club sides and will no doubt be hungry for more success, this time with the National Team.
