Pramodya, Kalu nominated for national selection committee

Sri Lanka Cricket has nominated five names including former World Cup winners, Pramodya Wickramasinghe and Romesh Kaluwitharana for the national selection committee. 

The five names are Pramodya Wickramasinghe, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Hemantha Wickramaratne, Kapila Wijegunawardene and Varuna Waragoda. Three among these will be selected by the National Sports Selection Committee which is headed by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and the National Sports Council.

Wickramasinghe is nominated as the chairman of the committee and two others are to join him to form the three-member panel as per the SLC. 

Apart from the two World-Cup winners, Hemantha Wickramaratne and Kapila Wijegunawardene have also represented Sri Lanka on the international stage. Waragoda, an alumni of D.S. Senanayake College, has played over 100 first-class games and also serves as a match referee at the SLC occasionally.

The names will be considered by the National Sports Selection Committee and the National Sports Council and the recommendations will be forwarded for the Sports Ministry for approval.
