Right-arm medium fast bowler Pramod Madushan has been called up to the Sri Lanka squad for the remainder of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 as a travelling reserve.

Reporting from Mumbai, India

The three travelling reserves named so far, have been included in the main squad due to the tournament-ending injuries to three players. Initially, Chamika Karunaratne replaced skipper Dasun Shanaka after the Pakistan game in Hyderabad.

Later, due to the more injury concerns, Angelo Mathews and Dushmantha Chameera were called up as travelling reserves midway through the competition. After Matheesha Pathirana was ruled out due to a shoulder injury, experienced Mathews was drafted into the squad.

After Lahiru Kumara injured his left thigh during training before the Afghanistan game, Chameera became the third injury replacement for Sri Lanka.

29-year-old Madushan, commenced his training on Wednesday afternoon. He has played only 3 ODIs and has picked up only 3 wickets.

Sri Lanka’s next three games will be against India (2nd November in Mumbai), Bangladesh (6th November in Delhi) and New Zealand (9th November in Bangalore).
