Prabath Jayasuriya added to Test squad

Left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya is the latest addition to the Sri Lanka Test squad for the second Test against Australia which starts on Friday (8th July) in Galle.

30-year-old Jayasuriya has claimed 234 wickets in 62 first-class matches at 25.61. He was the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded National Super League 4-day tournament where he picked up 26 wickets in 4 matches at 22.15.

With left-arm spinners Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama (covid-19) being released from the squad, the selectors have decided to strengthen Sri Lanka’s spin attack adding three spinners, Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage and Prabath Jayasuriya to the squad.

The second Test match between Sri Lanka and Australia will be played from 8th to 12th July at Galle International Cricket Stadium. The visiting Australian side won the 1st Test match by 10 wickets and leas the 2-match Test series 1-0.
