Power House Sadew to lead Ananda College at Rugby

Ananda College, who had a remarkable run in the last year (Division 1, Segment B) and are determined to replicate their success after promotion to Division 1 Segment A. Time will tell us whether the four times Runners-up of the President’s Trophy Knockout Tournament (1985, 1991, 1992 and 1999) can make an impact for the first time in a league championship.

The well-built Prop forward Sadew Dasanayake has been handed over the duties of captaincy while they are facing the elite schools rugby teams in the island. Sadews contribution with solid scrums and pure power in the rucks immensely helped to the triumph of Ananda Rugby in many encounters.

Further the cracking Center Three-Quarter, Deneth Chamuditha has been appointed as the vice-captain of the side. Deneth is a package with power and pace which eventually gave an advantage of number of yards in the attack for the Ananda team.

Veteran coach Amila Chathuranga, a proud product of Science College Mt. Lavinia has been appointed as the head coach of the Ananda side. He was the driving force behind Science College success in rugby amid many obstacles, including the Milo President’s Trophy triumph in 2015. Meanwhile, the Head coach will be supported by a veteran in the sport Nalin Kumara, as the Assistant Coach to carry his duties for further a year.

With this formidable leadership package and coaching combination, Ananda Rugby is quite optimistic that they could be able to face the uphill battle of elite school rugby league.
