Here’s a brief roundup of the matches which took place today in the SLC Tier B Premier League Tournament.

Police SC vs KPCC

Rasika Fernando hit a brilliant 43 runs off 32 balls but he ran himself out to end a keenly fought contest between Police SC and KPCC in a tie.

Resuming on their overnight score of 41/2, KPCC were pre-cautiously placed at 131/8 with things looking downwards, but Rasika Fernando had other ideas as he counter punched the Police bowling attack to all corners of the BRC cricket grounds hitting 9 fours before they were eventually bowled out for 181 with the scores tied.

Suwanji Madanayake’s dream game continued as he picked up seven wickets in the second innings for Police to end up with a match bag of ten wickets, following his heroics with the bat on day one.

Lankan CC vs SLPACC

Sri Lanka Ports Authority thrashed Lankan CC by 252 runs to secure the number two position on the tier B points table.

Resuming from their overnight score of 228/4, they went on to add 31 runs in quick time as they set a victory target of 400 for Lankan CC.

Lankan CC fared a touch better in their 2nd innings but were well below par once again as they were dismissed for 147 in just over 30 overs. Lal Kumar made a fighting half century for them but he got no support as the SLPACC spinners Ranesh Perera(3/28), Chanaka Komasaru(3/44), Chamikara Edirisinghe(2/38)shared eight wickets between them.

Navy SC vs KTC

Navy SC didn’t waste too much time as they captured the last five wickets of the KTC innings for just 49 runs in the opening session of day three leaving themselves just eight runs to win the game outright.

Left arm spinner Sudaraka Dharshana captured his second four wicket haul of the match as he had a debut to remember with figures of 8/76. Right arm leg spinner Ishan Abeysekara also chipped in with a three wicket haul.

The win which was their third of the season, also pushed Navy SC to the third position in the tier B Tournament.
