St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya recorded a nail-biting one run victory over Richmond College, Galle to win the Inter School Under-15 Division I cricket title at the Oval yesterday.
This was their second consecutive title victory and the fourth title win in the Under-15 Division I tournament since 2008.
With just two runs to make in the final over, the Peterites bowled Richmond out in the first ball of the final over restricting them to 193 runs to seal the victory.
Richmond were cruising at 150 for 4 with Hasaru Chamikara leading from the front with a top score of 84 runs and sharing a partnership 65 runs with Duvin Kalanasooriya.
St. Peter’s skipper Chathura Obesekara won the toss & elected to bat first; they scored 194 runs with Ranul Perera and Dinuja Peiris adding a valuable 45 and 39 runs respectively. But the wicket keeper Anishka Perera top-scoring with 58 runs in 60 balls took them to 194 which was just enough to win the title.
