St Peter’s College, Colombo and St Anne’s College, Kurunegala qualified for the final of the Desert Cubs Invitational 40 over Cricket Tournament for under 15 category. The final will take place today at BRC at 9.30 am onwards.
In the last preliminary match played yesterday at Bloomfield, St Peter’s College beat Ananda College by 9 wickets. Ananda College batting first scored 86 for 7 runs in the allotted 37 overs. St Peter’s College replied with 87 for 1 wicket in 16.4 overs to win comprehensively by 9 wickets.
In the under 17 category, Thurstan College, Colombo and St Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa qualified for today’s final at Colts grounds with play scheduled to commence at 9.30 am.
In the last preliminary match played yesterday at Royal College grounds, St Sebastian’s College registered an emphatic win against CCC School of Cricket to win by 85 runs in a rain curtailed match which was reduced to 15 overs a side.
St Sebastian’s College batting first scored 133 runs in the allotted 15 overs and Thurstan College were all out for 48 runs. St Sebastian’s College qualified for the final on a better net run rate against CCC School of Cricket.
The other teams that took part in this inaugural tournament were Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, UAE, Ananda College and Trinity College Kandy in the under 15 category whilst Desert Cubs Cricket Academy, UAE, CCC School of Cricket and Royal College participated in the under 17 event.
