The 2020 Oxford President’s Cup Inter-School Invitational Football Tournament, organized by the Group of the ’80s of Hameed Al Husseinie College will kick off on the 07th March at the Racecourse International Stadium.
The main objectives of this tournament which is sponsored by Oxford Group are to popularize the sport among school children and the public, train them to adapt and play in bigger international grounds and under floodlights. Also to establish fellowship among participants and to offer an opportunity to the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association and the National team to identify the future talent.
Group stage matches and the pre-quarterfinals will be played from 07th to 11th of March while the quarter-finals will be worked off on the 12th. The semi-finals and the grand finale will be played on the 22nd and 28th of March respectively.
After the opening day match at the Racecourse Stadium, the remaining group matches will be played at the Kelaniya Football Complex while the pre-quarter and quarter-final matches will be held at City League Grounds, Colombo. The venue for semi-finals and the grand finale will be the Racecourse International Stadium, Colombo.
For this year’s edition, 18 schools are confirmed to take part with 5 invited schools yet to confirm their participation.
Al Azhar Central College, Thihariya – Al Mubarak Central College, Malwana – Ananda College – Baduraliya Central College, Mawanella – D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo – Dharmadutha College, Badulla – Gateway College, Colombo – Hameed Al Hussienie College – Hindu College, Colombo – Isipathana College – Maris Stella College, Negombo – Muslim Central College, Kaluthara – Royal College, Colombo – S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia – St. Benedict’s College – T.B. Jaya Zahira College, Colombo – Wesley College – Zahira College, Gampola
Trophies, medals, and certificates will be awarded to the Champion, runner-up and 3rd place teams while individual trophies will be awarded to the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, Highest Goal Scorer (Golden Boot), Best Goal Keeper (Golden Glove) and Man of the Match of each match.
Hameed Al Husseinie College was crowned Champions in the last year’s edition while Al Azhar Central College emerged runners-up.
