Colombo FC took on Police FC at Police grounds on the Saturday the 16th of August. Police having lost their first match against Up Country Lions and drawn the other two matches, they badly need to get some points under their 9 belt.

Colombo FC on the other hand having won their first match against Nandimithra was focused on extending their points tally. Police team lead by Kumara Lankeshwara was looking shaky from the start. First corner was won by Damayantha Kumara of Colombo FC and blocked by the Police defence but they were unable to clear the ball and it went to straight back to Kumara who kicked it across while Samson intersected the defenders and headed the ball into the back of the net. Police defence was clueless. After the first goal police players were playing as if they’ve given up. Colombo FC though was focused on extending their deficit. Bodrie Dimitri of Colombo FC created so many opportunities but he just couldn’t finish it. Most of possession was taken by Colombo FC. It almost looked as if they were playing on their own.

Police FC was outplayed in every aspect of the game. At half time the score line was Colombo FC 1 Police FC 0.

In the second half Police showed some fight. They created quite few chances through their two forwards Nilantha Pathirana and Ranil Sanjeewa. Those two players looked like they were playing a different ball game comparing to the other players of Police FC. At the 75th minute Colombo scored their second goal after a counterattack through KAD Madusanka, who pierced the defenders and passed the ball to Bodrie Dimitri who just had to get the ball past the goal keeper. Police FC was falling apart. 80th minute they conceded an own

goal when the ball was crossed by Madusanka of Colmobo FC into the penalty box and HMGK De Silva tried to clear it but only managed to find the back of the net of their own goal. Just before the final whistle was blown Police managed to score a goal through S. Shakeef. Match ended with the score line 3 goals to 1, Colombo FC  winning comprehensively.
