Madhya Pradesh wicketkeeper Naman Ojha and Karnataka batsman Karun Nair were on Sunday named as replacements for injured Wriddhiman Saha and Murali Vijay, respectively, for the remainder of India’s tour of Sri Lanka.
“Saha has sustained a strain in his lower right hamstring and would require rehabilitation and strength training to recover completely,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.
“Vijay has sustained mild recurrence on his pre-existing injury in his right hamstring and would need further strength training to recover completely.”
Bengal glovesman Saha was retired hurt during India’s fourth innings on Sunday but returned to bat at the post-tea session. He also kept wickets.
Tamil Nadu batsman Vijay had missed the first Test at Galle and it is a big blow for India with the injury of the established opener.
Karun Nair’s selection comes on back of his century, which he scored against South Africa A and ensured a draw for India A on 21 August.
