Sri Lanka U19 Board President’s XI thrashed India Blue by 6 wickets in their 3rd match of the U19 Challenger’s Trophy (50 overs) played in Mumbai today. Sri Lanka U19 BP XI will meet India Blue for the second time as they compete for the Challengers Trophy Final on 2nd December in Mumbai.
Lankan skipper Ayana Siriwardane won the toss and opted field as right-arm speedster Heshan Hettiarachchi got the crucial wicket of skipper Himanshu Rana for 2 runs. From then onwards the visitors bowled to a plan as they kept the run-rate below 5 runs per over throughout India Blue innings. Om Bhosale’s 49 and Shivam Mavi’s handy 44 guided the hosts to respectable 203 all out in 46.3 overs as the Lankan Juniors controlled the game in the first half.

St. Aloysius College left-arm spinner Hareen Buddhila claimed 2 wickets, involved in 2 run outs and took a catch, while Mahanama College right-arm seamer Heshan Hettiarachchi was the man who did the damage earlier on taking 2 for 26 in his 7 overs.
Chasing 204 to win and enter the finals, the Lankans lost 3 quick wickets for 43 runs in the 11th over. however, St. Sebastian’s College batting hero Nuwanidu Fernando who made a match winning knock against India Red in the second game, came to the party today and smashed the Indian bowling to the cleaners. He partnered with Nipun Dananjaya as they took away the game from the hosts to an easy win and a place in the finals. Nuwanidu stroked 91 off 111 deliveries that included 11 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Nipun remained unbeaten on 65*off 99 balls to seal the game for Sri Lanka U19 Board President’s XI.
