National fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara was arrested earlier today after being involved in a road accident. Although details regarding the incident are hazy, according to news reports, the accident involving Kulasekara’s vehicle and a motor cyclist occurred in the Kadawatha – Kirillawala area around 4 pm today.
The motor cyclist is reported to have sustained fatal injuries and has been taken to the Ragama teaching hospital for an autopsy.
According to a press release by Sri Lanka Cricket regarding the matter, “Preliminary inquiries have revealed that Mr Kulasekara was returning to Colombo from Kandy, when the unfortunate motorcycle rider who was travelling in the opposite direction had lost control of his bike whilst trying to overtake a bus and got flung into Mr Kulasekara’s path. Mr Kulasekara is currently enlarged on bail by the Kadawatha Chief Magistrate pending completion of the investigation.”
