The British School In Colombo and S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavina won the Novices Girls and Boys Swimming Championships, respectively, at the recently concluded Novices Aquatic Championships from 07th – 09th March 2024 at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex, organised by the Sri Lanka Aquatics Sports Union.
British school girls won the championships with 76 points out of the 57 schools and clubs that participated. Last year’s champions, Bishop’s College, finished 2nd in line with 68 points. The Thomians dominated the boy’s category with a total of 119.50 points, leading the team scores among the 50 schools and clubs that took part. Just as the girl’s standings, the previous year’s champions – Seenigama Aquatic Club, became runners-up with 94.50 points.

A total of 1868 novice swimmers participated in this year’s Novices.
The Novices aquatic championships are the groundwork of the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union, where the novice level swimmers are allowed to gain experience in the competitive environment while given the opportunity to achieve the qualifying standards required for the upcoming competitions of Intermediate, National Age Groups, as well as Nationals.
