Playing at home, Eastern Province attacked with intent in search of the equalizer. East dominated the first half and created multiple chances. An off-side call denied East of an opening goal while two free-kicks from Mohamed Waseeth narrowly missed the target.

The only real chance for North fell to V. Geethan but Mohamed Murshid was alert to the danger and blocked it as the first half ended 0-0.

The 2nd half was much more entertaining than the 1st half as Eastern spurred on by their home fans tried desperately to breach the Northern defense. They had multiple shots and a few of which were on target but poor execution and good goalkeeping denied them the goals.

With time slipping away from Eastern, they pushed men forward creating gaps at the back. However, North were not able to take advantage of those chances including a great one for Kannan Thenusan.
