Sri Lanka national selectors have announced a 16-member squad to play in the 2-match Test series against Pakistan.

The star opening batter Dimuth Karunaratne will continue to lead the Sri Lankan contingent while his regular Test opening partner Pathum Nissanka who was overlooked from the Ireland series, has returned to the side.

The selectors have named most of the payers that played against Ireland in the 2-match Test series which they won quite comprehensively with innings victories.

Young left-arm quick Dilshan Madushanka and senior fast bowler Kasun Rajitha have made the cut, strengthening Sri Lanka’s fast bowling stocks.

The left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya and wrist-spinner Dushan Hemantha who were part of the Sri Lanka Test squad for the Ireland series have been overlooked. The left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama and off-spinner Lakshitha Manasinghe who has been in terrific form with the ball in red-ball cricket with Sri Lanka ‘A’ team have made the cut.

The 2-match Test series will be played from the 16th to the 28th of July. The first Test will be played at Galle International Cricket Stadium while the second Test has been scheduled to be played at SSC Grounds in Colombo.
