5-time Senior National Men’s champion and 6-time Davis Cup veteran Dineshkanthan Thangarajah was recently appointed to lead the National Women’s Fed Cup team for 2018 in their upcoming ITF group II fixture in Bahrain. The tour will kick off on 6th February with a team of four top ladies with Thangarajah acting as the coach/non-playing captain.

The selection committee of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association has decided that Thangarajah would lead a pack of four women in their venture in the Women’s circuit this year. The team has been partially finalized with one more entry to be decided. Nethmi Waduge of Visakha Vidyalaya and Anika Seneviratne of Ladies College will play key in the singles while Savini Jayasuriya of Bishop’s College will aid well in the doubles. The fourth and final player in the mix is last year’s Women’s National champion, Madhira Samarasinghe. Her participation is halted for the time being due to injury.
Dineshkanthan Thangarajah has been an individual who always looks to fulfill his goals to cater to the bigger needs and goals of Sri Lanka Tennis. He currently runs his own tennis academy, DTS Tennis Academy, mentoring players of different ages to the best of his capabilities with some of the finer coaches in the market.
