Netherlands have recalled striker Wout Weghorst for next month’s Nations League finals in Portugal but defender Daryl Janmaat and midfielder Ruud Vormer have been left out of the squad, the Dutch FA (KNVB) said on Friday.
Coach Ronald Koeman did not produce any surprises in a 28-man list but will cut five players before the Dutch head out to play England in the semi-finals in Guimaraes on June 6.
The winners will play either Portugal or Switzerland in the final in Porto on June 9 while the losers go into the third place playoff game in Guimaraes earlier that day.
VfL Wolfsburg forward Weghorst had to pull out of the Netherlands’ last two internationals against Belarus and Germany in March because of injury.
The Dutch squad will have a five-day training camp from May 24 without players who still have club commitments, including Liverpool pair Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum who will be preparing for the Champions League final on June 1.
