Nepal, which trounced Bhutan 8-0 in its Third SAFF Women´s Championship opener on Wednesday, will take on host Pakistan in its second match at the Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad on Friday.
This is the second meeting between the two sides in the SAFF Championship and the third across all competitions. Nepal is heavily favored against the host as has registered big wins in all the previous meetings.
The two sides met for the first time in 2010 during the South Asian Games, where Nepal defeated Pakistan 7-0. It then thrashed Pakistan 12-0 during the SAFF Championship later that year. In the 2012 SAFF Championship, Nepal beat Pakistan 8-0.
In the SAFF Championship, two-time runner-up Nepal has never lost to any team except for India, which defeated it in the previous two finals to lift the title.
Nepal coach Kumar Katuwal, who is taking charge of the team for the first time since 2010, has included nine new players in his squad with the aim of clinching the trophy this time.
