Here’s a round up of the matches which took place today in the SLC Premier League Tier B tournament.

Panadura SC vs Police SC

Panadura SC took the upper hand with the ball as they finished the day with a lead of 76 runs. Day resumed with Panadura having 236 runs on board for the loss of 8 wickets. They managed to add 14 runs more for the remaining 2 wickets.

However, the match drifted into Panadura’s hands as their bowlers took control of the match. Despite a fighting knock from Akila Lakshan, Police were bundled out for just 196 runs. Dhanushka Bandara was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 68.

At stumps, Panadura SC were 22 for no loss in their 2nd innings.

Galle SC vs Air Force SC

Despite losing early wickets late in the evening yesterday, Air Force fought back with the bat and ball on the 2nd day against Galle SC. Play resumed with Air Force having lost 4 wickets for just 57 runs. Few gritty knocks from the middle order saw them reaching 163 before getting bowled out.

With a slender lead of just 15 runs, Galle CC had the chance to bat their way out of trouble but Air Force kept on nagging until the days end. Dilip Tharaka’s and Sohan Rangika who bagged a five-for in the first innings rattled through the top order of Galle CC to restrict them for 172 for 7 at stumps on Day 2.

However, the lads from Galle ended the day with 197 runs ahead and 3 wickets in hand.

Negombo CC vs Lankan CC

Negombo CC took control of the match against Lankans CC as they reached a massive lead of 143 runs. Day resumed with Lankans struggling at 43 for 3 on board. Apart from few starts by the middle order, Lankans failed to capitalize with the bat as they were cleaned up for just 136 runs. Shehan Weerasinghe, Chanura Fernando and Umega Chathuranga shared 3 wickets each for the boys from Negombo.

With a healthy first innings lead of 87 runs, Negombo went into the innings break with their noses in front. Their second innings had a lot more intent as they pushed for some quick runs. Lasith Croospulle gave them a good start with 63 runs on top and the middle order followed up with some valuable contributions to extend their lead over the 200 run mark.

Kurunegala YCC vs Navy SC

Sailors put a mammoth 402 runs for their first innings against Kurunegala today. Kusal Edirasuriya top scored with 104 runs while Supun Leelarathne and Ishan Abeysekara chipped in with half centuries. Thusith De Soyza bowled tirelessly for his side and he was rewarded with an 8 wicket haul.

With a massive deficit of 149 runs against them, Kurunegala came in to bat for their second innings. They had to survive little more than an hour but they crumbled under pressure and ended 2nd day with already 3 wickets down for just 6 runs on board.
