All six matches produced results during the fourth match day in the AIA Premier Limited Overs Tournament 2015/16 on Wednesday.
NCC, Bloomfield, Tamil Union, Badureliya, Saracens and Sri Lanka Army registered wins over Ragama, Galle, CCC, Chilaw Marians, SL Ports Authority and Moors respectively.
NCC vs Ragama CC
Farveez Maharoof picked up his second consecutive five-wicket haul as NCC crushed Ragama CC by 7 wickets at Maitland Place.
The visitors were bowled out for a mere 108 with only noteworthy contributions coming from Thilaksha Sumanasiri and Chanaka Wijesinghe. NCC chased down the target easily with Niroshan Dickwella top-scoring with 35.
Ragama CC – 108 all out in 36 overs: Chanaka Wijesinghe 38, Thilaksha Sumanasiri 30, Farveez Maharoof 5/33, Jehan Mubarak 2/11, Chamikara Edirisinghe 2/11.
NCC – 109/3 in 24.5 overs: Niroshan Dickwella 35, Upul Tharanga 22, Sandun Weerakkody 22, Shashrika Pussegolla 2/19.
Bloomfield vs Galle CC
Vishwa Fernando and Imran Khan shared 7 wickets amongst them as Bloomfield annihilated the newly-promoted Galle CC by 9 wickets at Bloomfield grounds.
The visitors were bundled out for a mere 69 after they were sent it to bat first in this 34-over match which commenced at 1.00pm due to wet ground conditions. Apart of the opening bowling pair, skipper Madawa Warnapura bagged 3 scalps. The hosts’ chased down the target quite easily inside 12 overs.
Galle CC – 69 all out in 21.2 overs: Navidu Nirmal 13*, TN Sampath 13, Imran Khan 4/14, Vishwa Fernando 3/24, Madawa Warnapura 3/10.
Bloomfield – 70/1 in 11.1 overs: Dilhan Cooray 34*, Primosh Perera 29.
Tamil Union vs CCC
Superb all-round team effort helped Tamil Union defeat a lackluster CCC unit by a massive 116 runs at P. Sara Oval grounds.
Isuru Buddhika and Ramith Rambukwella scored 52 and 49* respectively to push Tamil Union score to 234 for 8 in their allocated 47 overs. CCC skipper Sachith Pathirana grabbed 3 scalps. Chasing 235 runs to win, the visitors were ambushed for just 118 inside 25 overs. Former Royal College skipper Chamika Karunaratne bagged 3 wickets for the hosts.
Tamil Union – 234/8 in 47 overs: Isuru Buddika 52, Ramith Rambukwella 49*, Pabasara Waduge 31, Dhananjaya De Silva 26, Sachith Pathirana 3/25.
CCC – 118 all out in 24.3 overs: Hans Fernando 23, Lahiru Udara 23, Chamika Karunaratne 3/07, Charith Jayampathi 2/11, Dhananjaya De Silva 2/18, Nisala Tharaka 2/47.
Chilaw Marians vs Badureliya
Badureliya managed to scrape through to a close 5-run win (D/L method) over Chilaw Marians at Surrey Village grounds in Maggona.
Rain and bad light both played a major role in the final decision of the match which went down to the wire. Earlier, Chilaw posted 215 runs as skipper Banuka Rajapakse made a sound 49 while left-arm spinner Dulanjana Mendis grabbed 3 wickets. Badureliya were 129/3 at the 20 over mark when bad-light stopped play. Geshan Wimaladharma made 45 for the hosts’.
Chilaw Marians – 215/6 in 45.2 overs: Bhanuka Rajapakshe 49, Ashen Silva 38, Thikshila De Silva 40*, Ramesh Damodaran 32, Dulanjana Mendis 3/25.
Badureliya – 129/3 in 20 overs: Geshan Wimaladharma 45, Hasantha Fernando 32*, Nadeera Nawala 26*.
SL Army SC vs Moors SC
The Soldiers sprung a big surprise when they defeated the strong Moors lineup by 3 wickets at Braybrooke Place.
Fast-bowler Janith Silva bowled superbly for the visitors taking 3 wickets for 23 while Kaushalya Gajasinghe scored a fighting half-century for the home team. Sri Lanka A team player Asela Gunaratne anchored the chase for the Soldiers with a fine knock of 62 while Shalika Karunanayake chipped in with 46.
Moors SC – 178/8 in 50 overs: Kaushalya Gajasinghe 51*, Sachithra Serasinghe 34, Shanuka Dulaj 29, Janith Silva 3/23
Army SC – 179/7 in 48.4 overs: Asela Gunaratne 62, Shalika Karunanayake 46, Sachithra Serasinghe 4/15, Malinda Pushpakumara 2/35
Saracens SC vs SL Ports Authority
Saracens notched a clinical 50-run win over Sri Lanka Ports Authority at CCC grounds.
Saracens managed only 199 in their 50 overs. Skipper Harsha Cooray top-scored with 65 while Geeth Kumara made 40. Young Sri Lanka U19 leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga picked up 3 scalps. Ports batting lineup failed to reach their target of 200 as off-spinner Umesh Karunaratne scalped 4 wickets for just 26.
Saracens SC – 199/8 in 50 overs: Harsha Cooray 65, Geeth Kumara 40, Mohomad Aslam 28, Wanindu Hasaranga 3/33, Chaminda Bandara 2/40.
SL Ports Authority – 149 all out in 40.4 overs: Lasith Lakshan 36, Gihan Rupasinghe 31, Ishan Rangana 22, Umesh Karunaratne 4/26, Akila Isanka 2/29.
