Navy rewrite records, OTSC & RCUAC register wins

Sri Lanka Navy came out all torpedoes firing in the 5th week after a week of break to record the highest number of goals in a single game and largest margin of victory in terms of goals difference in the 5th week of League matches.

Royal College Union Aquatic Club (RCUAC) recorded their 2nd 30+ goals score in consecutive weeks and OTSC too registered victory in their 5th week match. 

SLN vs ACAC

Unbeaten Sri Lanka Navy took on Ananda College Aquatic Club (ACAC) in the 1st match of the 5th week and this turned out to be a goal scoring fiesta as Navy registered a massive 46 goals thus creating the record for highest number of goals in a single game in this year’s league championship. Navy beat ACAC 46- 05 and registered the largest margin of victory in terms of goals difference with a difference of 39 goals. 

Sri Lanka Navy scored 10 goals in the 1st quarter and gave away just a goal to ACAC. For Navy Wasim M. Bawa scored 3 goals while Bhanuka Wijesundara and Thisuru Thamanegama scored 2 goals each. Shan Lakshitha, Poorna Kankanige and Musharraf Uwais scored a goal each. ACAC Captain Oshadha Madushanka scored the solitary goal for ACAC.

Navy scored 11 goals each in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and gave away just 2 goals each to ACAC in the 2nd and 3rd quarters to ACAC. For Navy, Musharraf Uwais and Shehan Dassanayake scored 3 goals each while Wasim M. Bawa scored 2 goals. Shan Lakshitha, Savith Warnapura and Akila Watareka scored a goal each. Oshadha Madushanka and Dasith Wickramasinghe scored a goal each.

In the 3rd quarter Wasim M. Bawa scored 5 goals while Musharrad Uwais and Shehan Dassanayake scored 2 each. Bhanuka Wijesundara and Poorna Kankanige scored a goal each while Oshadha Madushanka and Rakitha Senevirathna also scored a goal each.

In the final quarter Navy scored 14 goals and kept ACAC to a goal-less quarter. For Navy Shan Lakshitha scored 4 goals while Musharraf Uwais scored 3 goals. Poorna Kankanige, Wasim M Bawa and and Thisuru Thamanegama scored 2 goals each and Shakthi Warnapura scored 1 goal.

This game also saw all 11 playing players of Navy getting in to the score sheet.

With this Game Navy are right on top of the league table with 4 wins out of 4 games and ACAC goes down to 6th position.

OTSC vs SSC

Week 4 table leaders OTSC took on SSC on the 2nd August at Welisara Navy Pool and as expected OTSC recorded win with a score of 28-05. 

OTSC recorded a massive 10 goals in the 1st quarter and kept SSC to a goal-less quarter. For OTSC Ashane Fransis scored 3 while Shakya Gunathilake scored 2. Devinda Wijewardana, Isuru Kahadawela, Dhanushka Saram, Dineth Fransis and Chanuka Perera scored a goal each. 

In the 2nd quarter OTSC scored 9 while OTSC managed to score 5. For OTSC Chanuka Perera scored 3 while Devinda Wijewardana scored 2. Sanaka Molligoda, Dhanushka Saram, Dineth Fransis and Keshan Munasinghe scored a goal each. For SSC Dario Ockersz, Darith De Silva and Akila Edirisinghe scored a goal each. 

3rd quarter can be said as SSC’s best quarter of this tournament so far where they gave away just 3 goals to OTSC and also scored a goal for them. For OTSC Devushan De Mel, Dhanushka Saram and Shakya Gunathilaka scored a goal each. For SSC Gihantha Gunawardena scored.

In the final quarter OTSC scored another 6 goals and gave away 1 goal. For OTSC Devushan De Mel scored 3 goals while Dineth Fransis, Keshan Munasinghe and Shakya Gunathilaka scored a goal each. For SSC former STC Star player and Captain Darith De Silva scored the solitary goal.

With this win OTSC registered their 4th win of the tournament and settled in the 2nd position in the points table while SSC remains at the 5th position.

RCUAC vs SLA

Royal College Union Aquatic Club met Sri Lanka Army on the 3rd August at the Royal College Swimming Pool and the winner of this game would grab the 3rd position in the points table at the end of the 5th week. 

Royal made sure they continue their attacking style of play from last week’s game and won the game comprehensively with a score of 31-05. This was Royal 2nd 30+ goal score of the tournament and both 30+ scores have come in consecutive weeks. 

Royal scored 9 goals in the 1st quarter and gave away 3 goals. For Royal Yasodha Wasalage scored 4 goals while Gavin Shanuuka, Akila Weerasinghe, Rifat Uwais, Chandula Fernando and Yahiya Jaffer scored a goal each. For Army Denagamage scored 2 goals while Thushara scored one goal. 

In the 2nd and 3rd quarter, Royal scored 7 and 8 goals each respectively and gave away just a goal each to Army. For Royal Yashodha Wasalage scored 3 goals while Thamindu Ranasinghe and Akila Weerasinghe scored 2 each. Anura Bandara scored for Army.

In the 3rd quarter Thamindu Ranasinghe and Yasodha Wasalage scored 2 goals each while Yahiya Jaffer, Chandula Fernando, Senith Samaranayaka and Akila Weerasinghe scored a goal each.

Royal scored 7 goals in the final quarter and kept Army to a goal less quarter. Rifat Uwais scored 2 goals while Chandula Fernando, Senith Samaranayake, Akila Weerasinghe, Daisika Dias and Gavin Shanuka scored a goal each.

With this victory Royal remain at the 3rd position and Army remain at the 4th position.
