Defending champions Navy ‘A’ finished unbeaten alongside Kandy and CH & FC ‘A’ at the Dialog Club Seven’s first leg –day one– played at the Race Course International Stadium.

In preparation for the Dialog Club Rugby League 2018/19, the Dialog Club Rugby Seven’s kicked off at Race Course International stadium. Defending Champions Navy ‘A’ was placed in group A alongside Army ‘A’, Navy ‘C’ and Air Force ‘B’.

After forfeiting last year’s tournament, a formidable Kandy SC team was grouped with a depleted Havelock SC in group B with Sabaragamuwa RFC and Galle RRC rounding off the group.

Police ‘A’ looked favorites to top group C as they were drawn with Peterson SC, Navy ‘B’ and Army ‘B’. CH & FC fielded two formidable outfits; however, both teams were unfortunately grouped in the same group with Air Force ‘A’ and Police ‘B’.

Four Women’s teams also featured in this year’s tournament with three from the forces – Army, Navy, and Air Force – and one from CR & FC, even though CR & FC’s men pulled out of the tournament at the last moment.

Navy ‘A’ kicked of the days proceedings with a win over Air Force ‘B’.  Army ‘A’ Havelock’s and Kandy began day one with thumping 50+ wins over Navy ‘C’ Galle RRC and Sabaragamuwa RFC.
