It is not a secret that Mahanama Rugby has enjoyed one of their best seasons in the last year as they were champions of Division 1 – Segment B – Group 1, and the winners of Dialog Schools Rugby Knockouts Premier Trophy 2024.
In the face of an uphill task after promotion to elite level of school Rugby, Mahanama College has appointed a capable and skillful leadership package for the mission.

This year, the lads from the Duplication Road will be led by cracking center Navith Kannangara. He is a versatile player with both power and pace and he can also play as a Fly-half. As the Vice Captain of the past year, he had already proven that his leadership skills and decision making are at the above par.

Nippy Flanker Chamiru Methsara will be a Co-Vice Captain and the pack leader of this formidable lineup. Though he is average in size, he is big at the heart. Chamiru scored an important try to give a 24-24 victory to Mahanama versus Ananda in the Schools Premiership Knock-outs Final.

The other Co-Vice Captain of the side is the Wing three-quarter Mandilu Nemsara. He is a player with lightning speed and one who is capable of scoring against any opponent.

Experienced coach and past Isipathana player Devinda Pathiranage will be the Head Coach of the side. Another past Isipathana player Prasath Madhusanka will be the Assistant Coach, who is responsible for looking after the forwards. The other Assistant Coach is Sarindu Sihasara, who is also an ex-Isipathana player.
