Team Colombo registered a comfortable win over Team Jaffna in the final to be crowned champions of National Super League 50 Overs Tournament 2024.
Having won the toss, Team Colombo opted to bat first but got off to a shaky start losing Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis within first 3 overs.
However, the opening batter Avishka Fernando and skipper Charith Asalanka then revived the innings, adding 262 runs for the third wicket.
Fernando struck a brilliant century while Asalanka went onto score a magnificent double century. Fernando scored 126 runs off 113 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes.
Asalanka hit 206 runs off 142 balls with 12 fours and 16 fours at a strike rate of 145.07. Asalanka’s double ton enters record books as the second highest score by a Sri Lankan in List A cricket.

Team Colombo posted a massive total – 413/6 on the board in the allotted 50 overs. Lahiru Madushanka and Matheesha Pathirana picked up 2 wickets each for Team Jaffna.
Team Jaffna had a daunting task on their hands in the run-chase, but they showcased some fighting spirit crossing past 300-run mark even though they ended in the losing side.
The middle order batter Madushanka was the chief contributor with the bat for Jaffna as he made 104 runs off 86 balls with 10 fours and 4 sixes.
