The third week’s matches of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2024 continued for Day 3 today (3rd February) at Colombo and Hambantota.
Team Galle continued their domination over Team Dambulla on Day 3 today at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium.
After being 117/2 at stumps on Day 2, Team Dambulla went on to post 269, courtesy of half-centuries from Pavan Rathnayaka (63) and Sanoj Darshika (63).
The off-spinner Nishan Peiris and left-arm spinner Nimesh Vimukthi stood out with the ball for Team Galle, sharing 9 wickets between them. After been asked to follow on, Team Dambulla were 86/2 at the close of play on Day 3.
Team Kandy registered a 7-wicket win over Team Colombo in their encounter played today at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Pathum Nissanka’s 15th first-class century helped Kandy made a strong reply to Colombo’s first innings score of 377. Nissanka hit 151 runs off 186 balls with 21 fours and a six as Kandy declared their first innings at 320/9.
Team Colombo began their second innings 57 runs ahead, but a terrible batting display saw them being bowled out for just 102 runs. The left-arm spinner Wanuja Sahan was the pick of the bowlers for Team Kandy as he bagged 4 wickets for 45 runs. The off-spinner Ashian Daniel also picked up 3 key wickets for 27 runs.
Team Kandy chased down the target of 160 quite convincingly as they crossed over the line with 7 wickets in hand. Kasun Vidura top scored for the victorious Kandy with an unbeaten knock of 76 runs off 103 balls with 9 fours.
