The second week’s matches of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2024 continued for Day 3 today (27th January) at Pallekele and Hambantota.

Team Colombo made a strong reply with the bat to Team Dambulla’s mammoth first innings total today at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Team Colombo resumed their second innings on Day 3 at 98/1 with Dimuth Karunaratne (42*) and Kusal Mendis (29*) remaining unbeaten at the crease as overnight batters.

Karunaratne brought up his 47th first-class century, amassing 161 runs off 261 balls with 15 fours, while Mendis also contributed with valuable 80 runs as Team Colombo posted 388/7 at the close of play on Day 3. Karunaratne and Mendis shared a 148-run stand for the second wicket to put their side in the contest.

Team Jaffna finished Day 3 in a strong position in their encounter against Team Kandy at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Team Jaffna began their second innings 161 runs ahead and posted 234, with Nipun Karunanayake top-scoring with 60 runs. The young quick Chamika Gunasekara was the pick of the bowlers for Team Kandy as he snared 3 wickets for 43 runs.

Chasing 396 runs to win, Team Kandy was 47/2 at stumps on Day 3.
