The fifth week’s matches of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2024 commenced today (16th February) at Colombo and Hambantota.
The bowlers dominated the contest between Team Colombo and Team Galle, which began today at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

Having opted to bat first after winning the toss, Team Colombo were knocked over for just 145 runs as the speedster Udith Madushan triggered a spectacular slide to restrict them for a low score.
Madushan picked up 4 wickets for 45 runs, while Dhananjaya Lakshan and Nishan Peiris scalped 2 wickets each for Team Galle.
In reply, Team Galle also stuttered with the bat as they lost 5 wickets for 87 runs. The seamer Nisala Tharaka snared 2 wickets for 22 runs.
Team Dambulla finished Day 1 of their encounter against Team Jaffna in a strong position at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

Team Dambulla skipper Minod Bhanuka won the toss and opted to bat first. They posted 280 runs for 4 wickets at the close of play on Day 1. The middle-order batters Pavan Rathnayaka and Sonal Dinusha were the star performers for Dambulla as they made vital unbeaten half-centuries.
Rathnayaka (80*) and Dinusha (65*) added a 137-run partnership for the 5th wicket. Ravindu Fernando picked up 2 wickets for 87 runs for Team Jaffna.
