Team Colombo claimed first innings points against Team Jaffna in the drawn 4-day encounter of National Super League 2023 worked off today (05th February) at Pallekele.

Team Colombo resumed day four at 210/6 with overnight batters Manoj Sarathchandra and Prabath Jayasuriya remaining at the crease with an unbeaten stand of 45 runs.
The duo managed to extend their partnership to 72 adding 27 more runs before Jayasuriya departed after making 44 runs off 75 balls with 6 fours. The rest of the batters didn’t contribute much as Team Colombo were bowled out for 289.
The wicket-keeper batter Sarathchandra was the standout performer for Team Colombo today as he made 57 runs off 120 balls with 2 fours and a six. The seamers Kavindu Pathirathne and Lahiru Madushanka starred with the ball for Jaffna picking up 3 wickets each.

Team Jaffna began their 2nd innings 90 runs behind and posted 229 runs for 8 wickets at the close of play on day two. Jaffna’s No. 6 batter Avishka Tharindu top scored with a knock of 50 runs off 80 balls including 5 fours and a six.
The veteran seamer Nuwan Pradeep was the pick of the bowlers for Team Colombo as he bagged 3 scalps for 32 runs. Kasun Rajitha and Tharindu Rathnayake also starred with the ball taking 2 wickets each.
