Team Galle and Team Dambulla have advanced to the final of the National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2023.
Galle vs Kandy
The first semi-final between Team Galle and Team Kandy ended in a draw today at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. However, Team Galle who claimed first innings points managed to qualify for the final of the tournament.
Team Galle declared their second innings at 212/6 in the morning session on day four, setting a massive target of 644 for Team Kandy. Lakshan Edirisinghe was Galle’s top scorer in the 2nd innings where he stroked 77 runs off 118 balls with 10 fours.
The seamer Amshi de Silva and left-arm spinner Lasith Embuldeniya snared 2 wickets each for Team Kandy.
In the pursuit of 644 runs to win, Team Kandy got off to an excellent start thanks to their opening pair Lasith Croospulle and Kasun Vidura as they stitched together a 112-run stand for the first wicket.
Kandy No. 3 batter Sandun Weerakkody carried the baton, sharing another valuable 69-run partnership for the 2nd wicket with Croospulle. Team Galle fought back creating some panic in Kandy’s batting order as they managed to dismiss 4 quick wickets for 74 runs.
However, Team Kandy managed to post a respectable total of 299/5 as the match ended in a draw. Croospulle top scored with an aggressive century while Weerakkody contributed with valuable 73 runs for Team Kandy.

Dambulla vs Jaffna
Team Dambulla registered a 132-run win over Team Jaffna in the second semi-final worked off today at P. Sara Oval International Cricket Stadium.
Having declared their second innings at 274/9 in the morning session on day four, Team Dambulla set a mammoth target of 465 for Team Jaffna. Wanindu Hasaranga’s entertaining knock of 95 runs off 66 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes was the highlight of Team Dambulla’s 2nd essay with the bat.
The left-arm spinner Shashika Dulshan who impressed with the ball in the 1st innings taking a 6-fer picked up 3 more wickets taking his match tally to 9 wickets for 208 runs.
Team Jaffna got off to a solid start in the run-chase as their opening pair Navod Paranavithana and Ron Chandraguptha put on a 76-run stand for the first wicket. However, after the fall of the opening wicket, Team Jaffna faced a major batting collapse losing 7 wickets for just 95 runs being restricted to 171/7.
Jaffna No. 7 batter Ravindu Fernando fought alone scoring a brisk century, but it wasn’t enough for his side as Dambulla clinched a convincing win at the end. The spinners Chalana de Silva and Ashan Priyanjan impressed with the ball for the victorious Team Dambulla taking 3 wickets each.
