The fifth and final week’s matches of National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2023 ended in draws today (19th February) at Galle and Hambantota.
Colombo vs Dambulla
After being 279/6 at stumps on day three, Team Dambulla managed to put on a solid score – 401 for their 2nd innings as their lower order contributed 122 more runs to the total on the fourth day.
The skipper Minod Bhanuka led the charge with the bat for Team Dambulla with an aggressive century. He scored unbeaten 186 runs off 216 balls with 19 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 86.11. National-capped all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga also played a cameo of 40 runs off 28 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 142.86.
The off-spinner Dushan Vimukthi was the pick of the bowlers’ for Team Colombo as he claimed 5 wickets for 121 runs. Chasing a target of 486 runs to win, Team Colombo posted could post only 110/3 as rain interrupted the rest of the play.
Team Dambulla who claimed first innings points in this drawn encounter secured a place in the semi-finals which will be played from 23rd to 26th February.

Galle vs Jaffna
Team Jaffna resumed the fourth and final day at 555/8 and declared their innings after adding 29 runs to the total in the morning session.
The skipper Lahiru Madushanka played a captain’s knock scoring an aggressive 194 runs off 238 balls with 21 fours and 6 sixes.
Team Galle were set a massive target of 457 runs to win, but they could post only 50/3 as rain washed out the rest of the play, resulting in a draw.
Team Galle will retain their place at the top of the points table as they claimed first innings points in this drawn game. Team Galle along with Team Kandy, Team Jaffna and Team Dambulla secured their places in the semi-finals.
