National stars shine on eventful day

Day two of the fourth week of matches in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Premier League Tier A Tournament was worked off around the island today. 

BRC vs Tamil Union

BRC were stuttering at 42/6 at one stage in reply to Tamil Union’s 314 all out, before Suraj Randiv joined Sashin Dilranga as the duo put up a brilliant rescue act with an unbroken partnership of 178*. 

Randiv remained unbeaten on 93* while Dilranga was on 75* with BRC still needing a further 95 runs to secure first innings points.

Centuries from Sri Lanka batsmen Dimuth Karunaratne and Chamara Kapugedara put SSC well in control of their match against CCC.

SSC ended the day on 395/5 in reply to CCC’s 314 all out. Sachith Pathirana and Wanindu Hasaranga captured two wickets apiece for CCC.

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority were all over Badureliya as Badureliya ended the day on 24/1 after being asked to follow on. 

The Badureliya first innings was restricted to just 105 runs thanks to an impressive spell of left arm spin bowling by Chanaka Komasaru who captured six wickets.

Moors vs Bloomfield

Bloomfield secured first innings point but Moors fought their way back into the match through a classy century by their skipper and ex-Sri Lanka player Chamara Silva.

Moors ended the day on 296/6 with an overall lead of 246 runs. Stalwart left arm spinner Sajeewa Weerakoon picked up six wickets for Moors SC earlier in the day.

Chilaw Marians vs Army SC

Chilaw Marians were well in control when stumps were drawn on day two in their match against Army SC. 

Chilaw racked up a mammoth 545 all out in their first innings on the back of centuries from Oshada Fernando and Shehan Jayasuriya before Malinda Pushpakumara’s 6 wicket haul reduced Army to 160 all out and they were asked to follow on.
