The National trials for the upcoming Senior Nationals Athletics Championship will commence on 7th April and will have three full days of track & field action at the Sugathadasa Stadium.
The trials will lead up to the National Athletics Championship of 2021 which will make way for athletes to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics set to take place in July of this year. The trials will include all top national athletes and those who finished close behind at last years’ meet.
South Asian Games medalists of 2019 are all expected to take their marks at the trials this year, as this is the first national level competition they will compete in since the SAG 2019.
The Senior Nationals Athletics meet is scheduled for the third week of May (20-23) and will act as the final selections for the Tokyo Olympics. The Junior National championship is scheduled almost a month from the Seniors, 17th – 20th June, at the Sugathadasa Stadium
