The Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex witnessed a spectacular display of somersaults and twists over the past weekend as the National Age Group Diving Championships 2024, organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), concluded with resounding success.
Royal College emerged as the undisputed Boys champions, amassing an impressive 189 points. St. Joseph’s College finished second in line, securing 26 points.

Bishop’s College claimed the overall Girls championship with a commanding 145 points. St. Bridget’s Convent finished as runners-up, earning 66 points.

The competition featured five age categories: Open, Group A, B, C and D, allowing divers of various ages to compete at their respective levels. The culmination of the event saw 11 age group champions crowned, each one a testament to the hard work and dedication required to excel in this demanding sport.

This year’s championships served as a selection trial for two prestigious international competitions – the 14th Singapore National Diving Championships 2024 and the World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships 2024.
Sri Lanka Diving also turned a new page by initiating a “Best Capture” photography competition in order to promote the sport, and the photographers were awarded top 3 places and 6 merit awards.
