Myanmar made easy work of a fighting Sri Lanka outfit to win the FIFA Friendly encounter played at Yangon, Myanmar, today, the 10th of October.
Sri Lanka started with a 4-3-3 formation, with coach Abdullah Almutairi placing Sujan Perera in goal and Wade Dekker and Oliver Kelaart up front.
The home team began in flying fashion, as Lwin Moe Aung headed just wide of the upright, with Sri Lanka under pressure early on.
The evening got tougher when Lwin Moe Aung made up for his earlier miss, opening the scoring by pouncing on a cut-back to slot home the first goal of the game.
Sri Lanka threatened on a few occasions but lacked execution, as the home team went into the break with a one-goal lead.
The visitors began the second half stronger, getting close on a couple of occasions, but their execution continued to let them down.
These early misses in the second half came back to haunt the Lankan chargers when the home team doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute. Mg Mg Lwin chipped a free kick with ease past the diving Sujan Perera.
With their lead extended and a mountain to climb, Sri Lanka pushed the higher-ranked Myanmar team, but to no avail, as Myanmar held on to win the friendly 2-0.
